A, B, and C are distinct digits. Depending on which is individually larger, the 6-digit number is also larger. That's why the "if" statements for the leading digit(s)/. That six-digit number is either larger or smaller because of how it starts. For example, 111223 is smaller than 333211. A-=1, B=2, C=3.
