Well, I rearranged the first equation to get x^2 - 2x + 1 + y^2 = 0. This can be expressed as
(x-1)^2 + y^2 = 0. I'm assuming that x and y are real numbers so that the only answer to this is x=1, y=0.
so substitute this in to x^3 + y^5 and get the answer of 1.
