First thing needed is to put each mixed number into a useful fraction.
2 1/2 = 5/2
5 3/4 = 23/4
If one box weight 5/2 pounds, then we would multiply by 23/4 to find out how much 23/4 boxes weighs.
5/2 * 23/4 = (5*23)/(2*4) = 115 / 8 pounds (or 14.375 pounds)
