x = 2/6 = 1/3 <--- divides both sides by 6, then simplifies the fraction

check: left side is 8(1/3) = 8/3

right side is 2(1/3) + 2 = 2/3 + 2 = 2/3 + 6/2 = 8/3

the answer is 1/3
