Assuming that this is a proportion problem between the backyard and the new patio, we need to find the width of the new patio before we can find the perimeter.
To find the width of the new patio:
50/25=16/x
50x=400
x=8
So if the width of the new patio is 8, and the length is 16, the perimeter is:
p=8x2+16x2
p=16+32
p=48
