Let's replace the variables with numbers to help it make sense.
If you mow the lawn once you make $12 x 1 time = $12
If you mow the lawn twice you will make $12 x 2 times = $24
If you mow the lawn three times, you will make $12 x 3 times = $36
Hopefully you see the pattern that d (the total dollars) = $12n (n is the number of times you mow). So if you mow the lawn 10 times then the total dollars earned is $12 x 10 or using the equation, d = $12 x 10. So d = $120.
