Im trying to create a formula for excel. I have (((l*w)*(Excess thickness)/144) My problem is when the excess thickness becomes 1 or greater I get a number greater than the actual square footage there which is wrong

How can I solve this?

Trevor, what is the goal of the function you want? The function you have written produces **volume** rather than **area**, so it’s not obvious to me that there’s anything wrong with it.

So, are you wanting a function that gives area? Or volume?

what is the meaning of “excess thickness”?

Your equation has unbalanced parenthesis so should it be ((l*w)*(Excess thickness))/144 or l*w*((Excessive thickness)/144)?11/30/18
