Consider that industrialization requires a lot of labor in factories, which are often provided for cheap by new immigrants. If they did not want to take the pay there were often other immigrants who would work for the low pay. With large amounts of production the poorer classes could afford things for cheaper, which fueled the need for more "things" for cheaper prices.
