jackie has five more than six times as many dimes as pennies. If she has a total of $18.19, how many of each does she have?

Let P = # of pennies and D = # of dimes

D = 6P + 5

.1D + .01P = 18.19

10D + P = 1819

Substitute

60P + 50 + P = 1819

61P = 1769

P = 29

D = 174
