Question

One side of a triangles is 6 more than the first side. The third side is 1 less than 2 times the first side. The perimeter of the triangle is 58cm. What is the length of each side.

b = a + 6

c = 2a - 1

a + b + c = 58

Substitute:

a + a + 6 + 2a - 1 = 58

4a = 53

a = 53/4 = 13.25

b = 19.25

c = 25.5
