Let's represent this using algebraic expressions where x = # of 2-point baskets and y = # of 3-pointers:
2x + 3y = 60
x + y = 27 --> (x = 27 - y)
We could now solve by substitution:
2x + 3y = 60
2(27 - y) + 3y = 60
54 - 2y + 3y = 60
y = 6
If y=6, then x = 27 - y = 27 - 6 = 21.
BHS made 21 2-point baskets and 6 3-pointers.
