You can start with 60 and continue to subtract 8 until you get to 0.
60 - 8 = 52
You can use division, meaning 60 divided by 8 = 7. Or you can use repeated subtraction:
52 - 8 = 44
44- 8 = 36
36 - 8 = 28
28 - 8 = 20
20 - 8 = 12
12 - 8 = 4
4-8=-4 is below 0 so stop. Count the number of times you subtracted 8 above. That's how many pieces of yarn 8 inches long you can get from a 60 inch piece of yarn. You will have 4 inches left but you cannot count the 4 inch piece.
