How do I figure out slope intercept form

Give the equation in slope intercept form (y = mx + b) for the line passing through the points (6,2) and (12,14) (check your answer)

m = (14 - 2) / (12 - 6) = 12/6 = 2

y = 2x + b

Use either point to find b.

14 = 2(12) + b

b = -10

y = 2x - 10
