Unit rate... Confusion

Question

A robot can complete 7 tasks in 5/6 of an hour and each task takes the same amount of time. How long does it take to complete one task? How many tasks can the robot complete in one hour?

This is an exercise in understanding fractions and rates. I think it confuses rather than clarifies!

7/(5/6) is a rate ... 7 tasks in 5/6 hr

One task will be done in 1/7 of the time, i.e. 5/(7*6) hr = 5/42 hr.

The number of tasks in 1 hour can be found by saying 7/(5/6) = x/1

and (5/6)x = 7 +. x = 7*6/5 = 42/5 tasks 1 hr.

There are other ways of seeing these answers and you may just have to play around with the fractions to see them.
