Mr. baker baked some muffins. if he packs them in boxes of 4 he will have 3 left over . if he packs them in boxes of 5 he will also have 3 left over. if he packs them in boxes of 6, he will only have 1 left over. find the least possible number of muffins Mr. baker bakes
x/4 + 3 = y
x/5 + 3 = y
x/6 + 1 = y
43/4 = 10 boxes + 3
43/5 = 8 boxes + 3
43/6 = 7 boxes + 1
I did this by inspection. Sorry I can't provide better algebraic solution... I tried 23 first, because 4 x 5 = 20, and 20 + 3 = 23. Then, I doubled it so it could work with 6 per box.
