Julia drove to the recycling plant and back. It took one hour longer to go there than it did to come back. The average speed of the trip there was 40 KM/h. The average speed on the way back was 50 KM/h. How many hours did the trip there take?

Distance = rate * time

Distance = 40 * T where T is the time

Distance = 50 * (T-1)

40T = 50(T-1)

40T = 50T - 50

0 = 10T - 50

50 = 10T

T = 5
