Double Digit Fractions

How do you do double digit fractions?

Yohan C.

Hey there Delilah,

If you want to do fractions well, you must practice LCM (Least Common Multiples).  It is the foundation of fraction where you must find LCD (Least Common Denominator) when add and subtract fractions.  Both topics has one thing in common: Least Common which means to find smallest & first common value from set of numbers.

Many people just multiply set of numbers to find Least Common Denominator.  But practicing LCM, you can find smaller number that set of numbers share and make your work easier.

When you multiply or divide, you must know GCF (Greatest Common Factor) because it gets really big if you just multiply top numbers (numerators) and bottom numbers (denominators).  To make this easier, you can cancel what numbers (factors) both numerators and denominators share.  By canceling the biggest number that they share, your fraction will have much smaller numbers to work with.  GCF is (Greatest Common Factor) to find the biggest number from the set of numbers.

GCF is critical because it is the first thing you must do when you start the factoring.  If you don't, it will be difficult to solve.

I hope you got LCM and GCF.

Remember,
If it is not prime, there will be some factors for non-prime numbers.

Best of luck to you.  Did or will this clarify some worries about fractions?
