When doing these and other problems always remember this acronym Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally

P-parenthesis

E-exponents

M-multiplicaton

D-division

A-addition

S-subtration

This acronmy will help you in determining which part of the equation you should do first. Looking at the equation you see there are two parentheses, in the parenthesis you see exponents. Solve the exponents and any other math in the parenthesis first and then move to the next parenthesis. Once those are done then add the two.

9p^3+7p^2-7p+4.

To explain, since your not multiplying, the parenthesis do not really matter.

Look for the exponents that are the same and either add or subtract depending upon the symbol in front of them (either + or -). So, the 5p^3 can be combined with 4p^3 to make 9p^3, and so one with the rest of the equation.

Hope this helps you!
