multipy (4x+3y)^2

I need help multiplying (4x+3y)^2
I sure appreciate any help!

Taryn S.

Just so you know I am not a tutor but I do know how to multiply with exponents. The first thing I would do is to multiply 4x by 2. Which would be 8x. Then I would multiply 3y by 2. Which is 6y. Now I don't know how to add 8x and 6y because they don't have the same variable, but everything else should be right. I hope I helped even though I am not a tutor.

Exponents don't work like that. When we see, 62 for example, it's not 6  *2, but 6 * 6: it multiplies by the original number.
Similarly, when we have (4x)2, it's not 4x * 2, but (4x)(4x), or 4 * 4 * x * x
