Inverse meaning

When you find the inverse what does it mean? 

Example 

I have a story problem that says "Suppose x is the height of the watdr above the opening at the base of a water tank. The velocity v of water that flows from the opening at the base is a functin fo x and is given by V(x)=8squareroot x.

 

What does the inverse of that functin mean?

V(x) = 8√x, you state x and V(x) is calculated

x = 8√V'(x)

x/8 = √V'(x)

x²/64 = V'(x)
