Find a number of two digits from the following data: the product of the digits is 48, and if the digits be interchanged the number is diminished by 18

Altough there is a more "mathematical" way of doing this, sometimes common sense works better.

 

If you're using two digits from a two digit number, the only single digits that multiply to 48 is 6 and 8. So you're talking about 68 or 86. 86 diminished by 18 is 68. So your number is 86.
