If you set these two equations equal to each other and solve algebraicaly it should look like this:
2x + 5 = 6x + 1
-1 -1
2x + 4 = 6x
-2x -2x
4 = 4x
(divide by 4)
4/4 = x
1 = x
Now check, subsitute 1 in the equality
2(1) + 5 =? 6(1) + 1
2 + 5 =? 6 + 1
7 = 7 so
x=1

Your answer is incorrect because if you put -1/2 as the value for x both equations should be the same and they are not the same. This is a double equation, but not like yours. I will look it up and answer this.
