A weather forecaster predicts that the temperature will drop five degrees each hour for the next six hours. Represent this drop as a product of signed numbers and find the total drop in temperature.

We lose 5 degrees per hour so the temperature change is -5h where
h represents the number of hours
 
TF = Ti - 5h
 
We are given that h = 6 hours so:
 
TF = Ti - 30
 
TF = Final temperature
Ti = Initial temperature
30o is the total drop in temperature over the 6 hour period
