If it is a rectangle, the two short sides will be the width, and the two long sides will be the length.
The perimeter is the distance around the outside. The perimeter would be how far you walk if you start at one corner and walk across the width, turn and walk across a length, turn and walk across the other width, turn and walk across the other length to arrive at the point you started.
Let w = width and l = length. And the length is twice the width, so
l = 2w
Perimeter = w + l + w + l = 2w + 2l
And l= 2w, so Perimeter = 2w + 2(2w)
Perimeter = 180 feet = 2w + 4w
180 = 6w
Divide both sides by 6
30 = w
So the width is 30 feet, and the length is 2*30 = 60 feet.
