At a theater ,adult tickets cost 15 each and child cost 10 each .if 300 tickets were sold , and the sale of tickets generated between 3575$ and 3600$,inclusive, what is a possible number of child tickets that were sold ?

Let a = # of adult tickets; let c = # of child tickets

 

15a + 10c = 3600

 

a + c = 300, c = 300 - a

 

Substitute: 15a + 10(300 - a) = 3600

 

15 a + 3000 - 10a = 3600

 

5a = 600

 

a = 120, by subtraction, c = 180
