The ratio of cordial to water in a drink is 2:7. If 280 mL of water is used:

a) how much cordial needs to be added?

b) what is the total volume of the drink?

2:7

as

x:280

 

so  2/7 = x/280

 

solve for x

 

x = 2*280/7 = 80 ml cordial

Total volume = 80 + 280 = 360 ml
