no matter how he answers, his expected grade by purely guessing originally was 1/4 x 10 = 2.5 or 25%
but now with knowing 3 a's, 2 b's 2c's and 3 d's means he could answer A to all 10, or D to all 10 questions, guaranteeing 3 out of 10 correct, or a grade of 30%. If he did half A's and half D's his expected grade would still be 30%, with the possibility of 0 or 60%.
Answering B or C to any question would reduce the expected grade to less than 30%.
