If you want to estimate the √5
then find a square root above and below it.
1^2 = 1 , √1 = 1
2^2 = 4 , √4 = 2
3^2 = 9 , √9 = 3
So - can you see how the square root of 5 is between 2 and 3?
See how it is closer to the √4 = 2 than to the √9 = 3
So it is a little over 2
