Company G charges its customers a flat fee of $5 to stream their first 8 movies per month and 75 cents for each additional movie streamed within the same one month period. Company H charges its customers a flat fee of $7 to stream their first 10 movies per month and 60 cents for each additional movie streamed within the same one month. What is the maximum number of movies a customer could stream in a one month period and save money using company G instead of company H?

Assume that the customer will watch at least 10 movies.

 

Then solve 5 + .75(n-8) = 7 + .6(n-10) to find n = 13.3.

 

The customer will pay less with Co G or up to 13 movies per month.
