In one shift of 8 hrs,28 tea pluckers can pluck 1260 kg of green leaves .By how much can the work force be reduced if the same amount of green leaves is to be plucked in 14 hrs

Each plucker plucks 1260/(28*8) = 5.625 kg per hour = 5 and 5/8 = 45/8

 

 

1260/14 =  90 kg per hour

90 / 5.625  = 16 pluckers required

 

So 12 of them get the day off
