#1 move x to the left side because standard is Ax + By = C

 

-9x - 3y = 12     we would like the coefficient of x to be positive

 

9x + 3y = -12

 

#2 y - 3 = -2(x + 1)

 

y - 3 = -2x - 2  add 2x to both sides

 

2x + y - 3 = -2

 

2x + y = 1
