Fused Tetanus extended stimulation (Neuroscience)

What would happen if you continued to apply stimuli sufficient for a fused tetanus for an extended period of time at the level of the muscle and at the level of the synapse?

Fused tetanus in human being is limited for athletes under competitive situations . or under a very strenuous activity such as pulling a huge tree down. Continuous stimulation cannot go on for prolonged time. In muscle it would cause muscle fatigue. In synapse it would reach to maximum voltage and cause a plateau, implying no further excitation.
