If I say, "The product of "x" and "y," then remember that factor times factor=Product, so x times y, which can also be written as "xy," or (x)(y), or x*y.
If I say,"The product of "h" and "k"is 42. Then I would write (h)(k)=42. "Is" means equal.
The product of "h" and "4" is "h4," which is usually written with the number first, 4h. This means 4 times h. This can also be written on a computer as 4*h.
