Good Morning, Maureen,
As a tutor, I feel a sense of obligation to go beyond just providing you an answer without an explanation. I beg your patience, and perhaps this will assist you in the future.
Rules For Rounding
As a tutor, I feel a sense of obligation to go beyond just providing you an answer without an explanation. I beg your patience, and perhaps this will assist you in the future.
Rules For Rounding
(1) Four or below let it go; five or above, give it a shove. In professional terms this boils down to the following two rules:
If the number you are rounding is followed by 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9, round the number up. Example: 39 rounded to the nearest ten is 40
If the number you are rounding is followed by 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4, round the number down. Example: 14 rounded to the nearest ten is 10
(2) All the numbers to the right of the place you are rounding to become zeros.
Your number 1277400000 therefore, if rounding to the nearest million should be:
1,277,000,000
I hope the added information was helpful and that I helped you overall. Wishing you a fantastic day. Please feel free to leave any comments, or further questions on anything I shared with you below the answer.
