5x-9 < 11 and -11-1< or equal to 54

how do I solve this inequality

For the first inequality, do as follows:

 

5x  -  9    <  11

     + 9    <  11 + 9        (add 9 to both sides)

5x          <   20

 x           <  4                 (divide both sides by 5)

 

Then graph this on number line.

For the second inequality, I do not understand the original problem. It is confusing the way you write this inequality. Can you clarify?
