Ordered pairs are (x,y), so if it asks you which ordered pair is a solution for an equation, plug in each value and see which pair makes it true.

 

Is (3,2) a solution for 4x - 7y = -8?

 

4(3) - 7(2) = -8

12 - 14 = -8

-2 = -8

0 = -6

 

Well, that's not true, so no.
