I need major help! (im 11 so make it easy)

Question

A pizza is placed inside a 16-inch square pizza box so that it just touches the sides of the box. What is the circumference of the pizza? (use 3.14 for pi)

C = circumference

d = diameter of circle = length of the side of the box = 16 inches

C = πd = π(16 inches) = ? inches

The pizza box is a square and it has an area of 16 square inches. From the area you can figure out the length of the sides (it's a square so all the sides are the same length). 

 

Area= Side×Side    16 sq.in.=4in×4in

 

If the sides of the pizza box are 4 inches, then the diameter of the pizza that is just touching the sides of the box is also 4 inches. The circumference=pi×4inches=12.56 inches
