PLS SOLVE MY WORD PROBLEM

Question

The local theater is showing two films. A school survey of all the 8th graders shows that 35% have seen "The Killer Frogs", 3 out of every 10 have seen "The Handsome Prince", and 1/10 of them have seen both films. However, 54 students did not see either film.How many students saw "The Handsome Prince" but not "The Killer Frogs"?

 

NEED THIS SOLVED BY MONDAY!!! HELP!!!

A VENN DIAGRAM is best to visualize the problem.

 

3/10 = 30% have seen Handsome Prince

and 1/10 = 10% have seen both

 

Since 35% have seen Killer Frogs and 10% of them saw both that means 25% have only seen Killer Frogs.

LIkewise, since 30% have seen Handsome Prince, and 10% of them saw both, that means 20% of them have

 only seen Handsome Prince.

 

So 25%+10%+20% = 55% have seen one or both of the movies.

That means 45% have not seen either of the movies.

 

45% of ? = 54

 

45/100 * ? = 54

 

? = 54*100/45 = 5400/45 = 120

 

25% of 120 = 30 <--- have seen only Killer Frogs

10% of 120 = 12 <-- have seen both

20% of 120 = 24 <--- have seen only Handsome Prince

45% of 120 = 54 <--- have seen neither
