Say they collected x cans on the second day. so they collected x+5 cans on the first day. Total they collected x+(x+5) cans or 2x+5 cans. Now 2x+5 = 103 so, 2x = 103-5 = 98. so, x= 98/2= 49 and x+5= 54

 

Therefore, students collected 54 cans on the first and 49 cans on the second day! :)
