Given that the system of equations above has no solutions, what is the value of b? 3x+2y=8 & by+2b= -6x

The value of b must be whatever makes the principal determinant equal to zero.
3x + 2y = 8
6x + by = -2b
|3 2|
|6 b| = 0
3b - 12 = 0
b = 4
