PEMDAS is the first thing one must know. Parentheses enclose what operation you perform first. First, divide 51 by 4 which approximately equals 12-1/2. then multiply by -3/2 to get 43.75 or approximately 44. Or, alternatively, if that is an X rather than a "times by", the answer will be 44 X.
