Since we don’t know how many months will be used you simply put x and multiply it by 25 (25x), let’s not forget that the client still has to pay $100 so 25x+100 would be the first equation. You repeat the same steps for the second equation at get 20x+200.

 

Setting the two equation equal to each other gives you:

 

25x + 100 = 20x +200

 

You have to ”combine like terms” that means getting x’s On one side and putting numbers on the other side. 

 

Remember: Whenever you move terms across the equal sign your signs will change 

 

you will get:

25x-20x=200-100

5x = 100
