CosΘ - 3SinΘ = 0 ? Take an aspirin, and drape a warm dry cloth over your head (NOT a wet one or it will drip on the keyboard) as I walk you through this.
If I saw an easy way to transform one function into the other I would, but this one resists the procedure. Instead, we take a new tack and combine them like this:
CosΘ - 3SinΘ = 0
+3SinΘ +3SinΘ
CosΘ = 3SinΘ
CosΘ / SinΘ = 3SinΘ / SinΘ
CotΘ = 3
Cot-1 (CotΘ) = Cot-1(3)
Θ = 18.43°
Remember: trigs usually have two answers. Our first is a reference angle. Tanand Cot are positive in quadrants I and III. Our answer is in I, so we must find the other by adding 180°:
Θ = 198.43
You can change either into radians by multiplying each with Pi / 180. Also, if the want all of the answers in the universe, add 360K or 2Pi*K to both answers.
