Word Problem Law of Sines/Cosines and Heron's formula

Question

Yosemite Falls in Cali is composed of 3 sections. The upper Yosemite Fall, The middle Cascade, and Lower Yosemite Fall. From a footbridge across the creek 2500 feet from the falls, the angles of elevation to the top and bottom of upper yosemite fall are 45.74 degrees and 24.42 degrees. How high is the total series of the three falls? How high is upper yosemite fall? round answer to nearest tenth. 

 

I have an answer but it is wrong. The entire height (all 3 falls) is 1768 feet and the heigh of upper yosemite fall is ~1200 feet.

Those answers are incorrect....

tan 45.74 = H/2500 where H is the height to the top of the upper falls...

H = 2500*tan 45.74 = 2565

likewise tan 24.42 = h/2500, where h is the height to the bottom of the upper falls.

h = 2500 * tan 24.42 = 1135

therefore the upper falls are 2565-1135 = 1430
