Why is 1+1+3×10 not 50 but 32

I understand the orders of operation PEMDAS totally, but why does that apply to 

1+1+3×10?

    1  +  1  +  3  ×  10

                   ----------           PEMDAS   no P, no E, yes M; do it !

 

 

    1  +  1  +  30

         32
