parallel and perpendicular gradients?

Got a question on my maths homework and despite trying to remember, I learnt it so long ago I don't have a clue. 

It is: 

"Here is an equation of the line y=2x+1, what are the parallel and perpendicular gradients?"

y = mx + b

 

m is the gradiant, so the parallel is 2.

 

Perpendicular is opposite, reciprocal, so -1/2.
