Question

Two cyclists leave town 160 mi apart at the same time and travel towards each other. One cyclist travels 8 mi/h slower than the other. If they meet in 4 hours what is the rate of each cyclist?

So, in 4 hours, they have together travrlled thr entire distance.

 

4(r + r - 8) = 160

8r = 192

r = 24

 

24 - 8 = 16

 

One cyclist went 24 mph and the other 16 mph.
