how to solve 7 1/2= 2x+5(1 1/5)

the 1/2 is the fraction and with the number in front makes it a mix fraction. I don't really understand how to solve it

Mixed fractions:

a b/c = (ca+b)/c

 

Example:  2 3/5 = [5(2)+3]/5 = 13/5

 

7 1/2 = 2x + 5(1 1/5)

7 1/2 = 2x + 5(6/5)

7 1/2 = 2x + 5(6)/5

7 1/2  = 2x + 6

7 1/2 - 6 = 2x

1 1/2 = 2x

3/2 = 2x

multiply both sides by 1/2

(3/2)(1/2) = x

3/4 = x
