Solution:
The equation of the line that is parallel to the line y=7x+10 and passing through the point ( -1,2) has the same slope of that line. Therefore The slope is m=7
Using the slope and the point you can write the equation in point slope form as:
m= y-2/x+1, y-2=m(x+1), substituting for m , y-2=7(x+1)
y-2=7x+7, in general form the equation becomes y-7x-9=0
in y intercept form the equation becomes y=7x+9
Remember that the equation of the line in y intercept form is y=mx+b where m=7, and b=9, and the line intersects the y axis at the point (0,b)
or (0,9) in our equation
