seven times a number is 30 greater than the sum of twice the number and 5. what is the number

7 X = 30 + 2(x + 5)

 

7x = 30 + 2x + 10

 

7x = 40 + 2x

 

7x - 2x = 40 + 2x -2x

 

5x = 40

 

x=8

 Left side = 7* 8 = 56 = 30 + 26 = 30 + 2 * 13 = 30 + 2  * (8 + 5) = right side
